《中国与世界 软实力的竞技(英文版)》:
More recently Haugaard and Ryan have mapped out the "development of the field" and highlighted multi-dimensionality in power theories by referring to the historical interweaving of different sources of power( political authoritative, economic and ideological) as well as to the "language games" that have characterized conceptualizations about power. They identify three "meta-language games of power analysis", according to which the rich literature can be organized:in the "conflictual language game", which is closer to everyday speech, power constitutes and facilitates domination and "power over"; in the "consensual language game" power is seen as a capacity to act(it relates to expressions like "power to" and, sometimes, "power with" ) ; finally, there is a "constitutive" view of power which "sits both in tension with, and as the logical culmination of, the other two." In this case, in a Faucoultian sense, power is exercised when subjects' positions and identities are constituted, as a mix of "power over" and "power to".This reading allows to consider and distinguish between "agent-centred" perspectives( focused on social practices, sources of autonomy and subjection) and "system-centred" perspectives(looking at structures and systems, collective actors in networks, global interdependence) .In the end, Haugaard and Ryan make explicit the challenge facing power theorists today: the difficulty of reconciling dualities, distinctions and diversity, since "all( forms of power) are implicated in every aspect of social interaction." Thus, scholars are invited to develop an "ethnography of power" capable of exploring the interplay between agents and agency, short and long term perspectives, forms of power that reproduce and forms that challenge the order to things.
